Library Board of Trustees Meeting

December 19, 2023 @ 7:00pm


Minutes

Present: Matt Assenmacher, Jodie Colone, Mary Evergreen, Richelle Hocking & Bridgette Rosek 
Absent: Crystal Walter
Also Present: Holly Hentz, Christine Weber

Call to Order and Pledge to the Flag:
This regular meeting of the Hamburg Township Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Hocking at 7:00pm in the Patricia Waters Community Room.

Approval Of:

Call to the Public: Kim Roberts, Katie Doran, and Delaney Mayse were in attendance.

Financial:
1)  Motion to approve November 2023 Financial Report as presented made by Assenmacher; Seconded by Evergreen; Motion carried.
2)  Motion to approve Library Voucher #645 in the amount of $240,328.26 made by Mary Evergreen; Seconded by Jodie Colone; Motion carried.

Librarian’s Report:
1)  In-house Statistics: 4,281 Patrons Served; 35 New Patrons; 5,184 Item Check-outs, 118 computer uses.
2)  Online Statistics: 2,231 Libby; 34 PressReader; 360 Zinio; 0 Fold3; 0 Heritage Quest; 71 TumbleBooks; 4 Niche Academy.
3)  Other News: None
4)  Upcoming Programs

Correspondence:
1)  None

Old Business:
1)  Sidewalk, planters, and checkerboard table have been installed.
2)  Library renovations are almost completed.  Library Design is working on the punch list items. Fire suppression testing & inspection is due, and Hentz recommended using Elite Fire Safety to save over $1000.00.  Motion to approve new Fire Suppressions System Inspection Services through Elite Fire Safety made by Assenmacher; Seconded by Rosek; Motion carried.
3)  Library website discussion continued.  The board is focusing first on a new logo designed by professional graphic artist.  The website, social media, and other communications will come afterwards.  Board members are asked to think about concepts, images and/or words that represent the library. Hentz will investigate local graphic design firms.

Friends Report:
1) Income: Fall Book Sale proceeds = $2,600.35.  Rummage Sale proceeds = $2,053.51 - beat all expectations!  Will be repeated next Fall.  Oct/Nov Gift Store proceeds = $248.80
2) New Fundraisers:  Spring Gardening Classes confirmed with Livingston County Extension Services instructor April 24, May 1, May 8 & May 15; Silent Auction; Christmas in July
3) Spring Membership event will be “Friend”raiser on March 13, 2024 from 6:00-7:30pm
