Library Board of Trustees Meeting
April 15, 2025 @ 7:00pm
Minutes
Present: Matt Assenmacher, Jodie Colone, Mary Evergreen, Richelle Hocking, Bridgette Rosek and Crystal Walter.
Absent: None.
Also Present: Holly Hentz, Christine Weber.
This regular meeting of the Hamburg Township Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Colone at 7:00 pm in the Patricia Waters Community Room.
Approval of:
- Motion to approve Agenda as presented made by Hocking; Seconded by Walter. Motion carried.
- Motion to approve the minutes from March 18, 2025 as presented made by Rosek; Seconded by Assenmacher. Motion carried.
Call to the Public: No comments.
Financial:
- Motion to approve March 2025 Financial Report made by Walter; Seconded by Rosek. Motion carried.
- Motion to approve Voucher #661 in the amount of $93,239.81 made by Evergreen; Seconded by Hocking. Motion carried.
Librarian’s Report:
- In-house Statistics: 4,285 Patrons Served; 83 New Patrons; 5,812 Item Check-outs;
182 Computer Uses.
- Online Statistics: 3,365 Libby; 408 Zinio; 0 Fold3; 0 Heritage Quest; 0 Ancestry; 5 TumbleBooks; 47 Niche Academy.
- Other News - Hentz attended the FOML Annual Meeting on 4/11/25 with Mary Ellen Mulcrone, Kristine Wolff and Janina Murdock. FOHTL were given FOML’s 2025 FOML Merit Award for Population >12,000. The $750 cash award will be used to fund future HTL Programs.

Correspondence:
1. Letter from anonymous person. The board would normally have responded but because the
sender chose to remain anonymous this was not possible.
Old Business:
- Update on Strategic Planning with Lisa A. - 214 surveys received to date vs a goal of 750.
- Motion to approve 2025-2026 Budget as presented for $1,269,507.02 was made by Walter; seconded by Hocking. Motion carried.
- Hentz reviewed updates to the Federal budget cuts to IMLS and its implications.
New Business:
- Motion to rollover Choice One Bank CD maturing on 4/22/25 (formerly The State Bank) for all funds plus interest earned into a 90-day CD at the rate of 4.15% or better on maturity date made by Rosek; seconded by Walter. Motion carried.
Friends Report, Debbie Kooperman reporting:
- In June the HTL Gardens (Native Plants and Rain Gardens) will be photographed for inclusion in the 2026 Huron River Watershed Council calendar.
- March Gift Shop income = $358.70
- New potential fundraisers: Vintage used jewelry sale & Puzzle Swap.
- Spring Open House on 4/10/25 was well attended – 25.
- Donation of $200 was made by Linda Gacioch’s family and will be used toward Ice Cream Social to recognize HTL Volunteers.
- Renee Lichau will be assisting Library Staff w/Gift Shop moving forward
